Answers to question we’ve been asked before about our wedding and party band

Do you require a deposit to secure the booking?
Yes. A deposit of 35% is requested at the time of bookings to secure the date.
How far do you travel?
We travel anywhere. We are based in Farnham, Portsmouth – Hampshire, Surrey. We have played as far North as Kinross and as far West as Falmouth. In fact we’ve played some Floyd in Italy! For distances over 50 miles we will charge extra to cover fuel and milage.
How much does it cost to hire The Classic Rock Band?
Prices vary slightly based on the time of year, the location of your event, timings, and any upgrade options, but our standard price starts at £800. We don’t charge for the time it takes for us to travel to the gig but do charge mileage for anywhere over 50 miles away from Farnham, Surrey.
Can you provide music for the gaps between your sets?
Yes, we have the ability to plug our iPod loaded with party tunes through the PA. If you would like to prepare your own playlists feel free to bring an iPod or laptop and we can plug it in. The music we play is all rock. If you wanted a specific set let us know in advance and we’ll see if we can put it together for you.

How long will you play for?
A typical cover gig contains 3 x 50 minute sets of live music. We have a large repertoire and so are capable of much more than this. We usually charge more per additional set of half an hour.
Do you do public gigs where we can come and see you live before booking the band?
Yes, on occasions when we’re not playing an event. We do play the odd public gigs or can arrange one if there are a few clients looking to watch us. Most are based in Portsmouth and Farnham. Let us know if you want to come and see us and we’ll see what we can do.
Are you going to be loud?
Yes! We are a rock cover band, so there’s an expected level of volume to accompany the style we play which adds to the atmosphere. We will however never play louder than the legal requirements. If the venue has a sound limiter, please let us know in advance as it may require a smaller setup from the band. If needs be we can always offer our acoustic service which can be much quieter than the usual electric set-up. We are adaptable and are experienced playing in venues with sound limiters, so are happy to work with the situation as long as we know in advance.
Is all the music live, or do you use backing tracks?
We play everything live.
What happens if someone in the band gets ill?
In the unfortunate event that a band member is ill at the time of a pre-booked gig, we do not hire a deputising musician as this can mess with familiarity of the band. We will do the show as a three-piece band as our individual musical backgrounds are from three-piece bands. We can make just as much fun and noise! The show must go on!
We’ve heard of other cover bands getting double-booked. Can this happen with you?
Absolutely not. Once a booking is taken, that date is secured with the band and you will definitely have The Classic Rock Band perform at your function. We all share an online calendar for precisely this reason.
How can we pay the balance of a booking?
Cash on the night or bank transfer a few days before is fine with us. As long as the balance is received in clear funds by the day of the performance.
Can you provide lighting?
Yes. We use state of the art LED spot lighting along with moving scanners and lasers. We do use strobe lighting. Please let us know in advance if you would prefer not to have strobes during our performances
Will you look smart?
We are a rock band, so you will not see us in suits and ties. We will usually be in jeans and t-shirts or smart shirts. If you have a particular dress code or fancy dress theme and you want us to coordinate please let us know and we will see what we can do for you.
How long do you need to setup?
Average setup and sound check time is around 90 minutes. If you have you requested the Pink Floyd set, this will take 2 hours due to the lighting set up.
Can we use your microphone for speeches?
Yes, no problem, as long as you’ve requested that we’re there in time to have it setup.
Is your equipment safety checked?
Yes. All of our electrical equipment is PAT tested with certificate. We also have full public liability insurance, to £10 Million.
How much space do you need?
We are a four-piece band and ask for 5 metres by 3. We can squeeze into most areas if need be. Ask us you are worried!
Can you cover my first dance or request?
Yes! As long as we know well in advance we can learn a new song. Don’t be afraid to ask for an epic track. We’ll probably know and love it!
